Subsidies for
E-mobility

More and more people are becoming aware of how important it is to protect our environment, and many want to do their bit: a very good way to do this is to switch to an e-car. Since the costs for a purchase as well as for the installation of a power line and wallbox in the private garage can currently be even higher, there is government support. Here's how you can get funding.

  •     Innovation bonus extended until the end of 2025

  •     Up to 9000 € subsidy for e-cars

  •     Staggered subsidy rates for leased vehicles

Here you can find out which vehicles are subsidised in which way!

Point 2: Make a request

To apply, you need your invoice or leasing statement from the bank and the registration certificate for your car. Then click on the link below to go directly to the application procedure.

Point 3: Receive the money

If all the documents and information are correct, you will receive the amount directly to your account and the notification of funding. If not, you will be asked to provide the missing information.

Have a good trip!

Apply for an environmental bonus: The 3-point plan when buying / leasing an e-car or PHEV:

In order to promote e-mobility, the state has invested a lot of money in recent years. Only recently, the "innovation premium" was extended until the end of 2022. In order to qualify for the subsidies, however, a number of conditions must be met. The basic requirement is that a vehicle emits no more than 50 grams of CO₂ per kilometre or can guarantee a minimum purely electric range of 60 kilometres.

If the requirements are met, there is a state subsidy of up to 9000 €, for plug-in hybrids still up to 6750 €. For leased vehicles, there are correspondingly staggered solutions. The subsidies can be applied for at the BAFA (Federal Office of Economics and Export Control). But please note: When applying, the electrically powered vehicle must have been registered with the applicant in the Federal Republic of Germany for at least six months. Private individuals, but also companies, foundations, corporations and associations are entitled to apply. The application is made directly via a special online page of the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control.

The purchase of an electric car is also worthwhile from a tax perspective. For battery electric vehicles, no vehicle tax has to be paid for ten years after initial registration. This offer has been extended until 31 December 2030. Even after a change of owner, the tax exemption still applies for the remaining period. However, this tax exemption does not apply to hybrids.

When buying or leasing an electric car or plug-in hybrid, you can apply to BAFA for a subsidy of varying amounts. The amount for your (desired) vehicle depends on various factors. Here you can find out whether you are eligible for funding and how quickly and easily you can apply. In our 3-point plan, you will find simple instructions that will guide you through the jungle of documents:

Point 1: Is my car eligible for funding?

Before you lease or buy a vehicle, it is worth clarifying to what extent it is financially supported by BAFA. You can find the current list under the link below.
