Once run as a forestry business and small guesthouse, the traditional five-star hotel with 400 years of history is now considered one of the leading hotel businesses in Austria and the epitome of closeness to nature, love of one's homeland, a place to rest and an ideal starting point for exploring the Leogang mountains. The hosts and visionaries Christina and Christoph Schmuck and Bianka Bitter run the traditional hotel with a lot of passion and love for detail. Almost every year, new investments are made and renovations are planned to make the Naturhotel Forsthofgut an even more beautiful place and to guarantee the highest standards.

From May 2021, guests will have numerous new features at their disposal: In addition to the expansion of the family spa waldWIRBEL with an additional 800m² bathing area, the Adults Only area of the waldSPA will also be expanded. A new outdoor infinity pool, a 42-degree onsen pool with onsen washing area and cleansing rituals as well as a Finnish lake sauna and a natural plunge pool in the expanded organic bathing lake will be created. A special culinary highlight also awaits: a Japanese lake restaurant with show kitchen and spacious terrace is being built in the new waldSPA lake house. Three luxurious loft suites in the new lake house round off the new features.

Prior to this, the culinary concept, the ForsthofgutKÜCHE, was completely redesigned. Since then, an innovative concept of a gourmet market with various stands such as a bakery, cheese dairy, coffee bar, juice bar and the three gourmet lines "Alpine", "R50" and "Vegan" has been waiting for guests. Gourmets enjoy highly creative compositions in the fine dining restaurant "echt. gut essen.", which has been awarded three toques. All products come from within a maximum radius of 50 kilometres or from the hotel's own mountain farm.

Currently 102 rooms and suites, many of them with a breathtaking mountain panorama, shine in alpine design with modern elements and 170 employees take care of the well-being of their guests almost around the clock, all year round. Those seeking peace and quiet can escape from everyday life in the 3,800-square-metre waldSPA with its adults-only area and separate family spa "waldWIRBEL", take a deep breath during a treatment in a forest clearing or do laps in the organic bathing lake in the middle of the 30,000-square-metre garden, which offers plenty of space and room in nature far away from the crowds. With its exposed location at the foot of the Leoganger Steinberge mountains, the Forsthofgut is also the ideal starting point for numerous outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking or skiing in winter.
